There was indeed a supermarket there: Key Food, though it wasn't very super, just a grocery store. I don't remember any place to get keys, but I certainly remember the sprinkler head at the corner of Vleigh Place playground. We used to throw our shirts on top the head, trying to suppress the water. Never worked. And there was a scully (bottle-caps) court nearby it. I spent many happy hours there...
The pharmacy was on the corner
i brought all my exposed film from my brownie camera to that pharmacy but, it was not on the corner (unless there was more than one pharmacy). It was in the middle of the block across the street from Key Food. Still have all the finished prints from there in my childhood photo album.
Hey there Peter - I have to say, I remember the pharmacy being on the corner too. Don't recall another one. And I could see it from my apartment. Oddly enough, the only thing I ever remember buying there was a birthday gift for my mother: a necklace of big, pink crystals (glass, I assume). I thought it was beautiful, but I noticed my mother never wore it. Seems odd in retrospect that they'd be selling costume jewelry like that, but that's what I remember.
