Adventurer's Inn

Hey 164ers, let's travel North, along the Whitestone Expressway and revisit a great place from our youth: Adventurer's Inn. Who remembers the amusement park and the adjacent arcade. My favorite ride was 'A Flight To Mars,' and I remember getting a greasy burger and then using those spiraled long spoons to add relish and ketchup. Anyone else remember this place?

I remember it! I remember the video arcade too! It was also near a swim club, though I can't remember the name of it. I remember trying to sneak in, but always got kicked out! It's all stores there now!

Swim club? On the banks of Flushing Bay? Hmm, what could be worse? Newark Shores Beach Club?
I don't recall a swim club but will take your word for it. I do remember going to Silverpoint (think that was it) with you and Mark and accidently (?) squirting a ketchup package all over that large woman behind the counter.

Silverpoint Beach Club, that was it. We went there every summer!

Do you remember "The Bronx Beach Club" just over the Whitestone or Throggs Neck (in the Bronx)? It had a painted sign bricks (quite chipped and faded) which, said "Bronx Beach Club." As a family, when we drove from Queens, my father would always joke that we would join there (an unappetizing idea from the looks of the outside)

oh, just to give a time-line on The Bronx Beach Club - early to mid 60's. a faded sign like that would never happen today (esp saying "The Bronx Beach Club")

Golf city was next door to Adventurer's Inn, with the giant slide outside... I was always too young to go on it and had to stand and watch!!

Golf City yes, and who could possibly forget Flushing Airport. I used to love watching those tiny single engine planes take off and land.

Hi Ed, do you remember me I was in your class? The Swim Club was called Linden Beach Club. I was a member there for years and was on the swim team. It was really cool. They used to have buses that picked us up all over our neighborhood. I used to Go to Adventures Inn a few times a week. I used to love the Arcade as well. There was also A Bowling Alley across the express way and a McDonalds.

My favorite ride was "Flight to Mars"too. Oh was that ever my favorite place to go -the rides, the arcades, I think my brother had a birthday party there too. I was upset when it was torn down.
