Howard, the shoe store was Buster Brown I think... on the other side of Main street it was Dorbers....

Yes, you are correct.
It would be nice to list all the stores from 73rd Main (Baskin Robbins all the way to Jewel)
Does anyone remember Wing Luck?

Do you mean the place next to the fruit stand? Ok, I can't remember all the names, but there was a Kosher Meat Market (not Brach's); I think it was Empire or something like that. There was the Pharmacy on the corner of 72nd Drive and Main. I do remember Buster Browns. There was a barber too. There was Key Food; my mom still goes there on occasion but boy are they nasty!

I'll have to give some thought to the others....

Hey Ed.

Wing Luck was North of Jewel and one of those 'authentic' Asian restaurants replete with white table clothes, waiters in black jackets serving cuisine in those metal domed dishes.
I rember Empire (before Brachs arrived) and the saw dust on the floor. My mom dragged me in there and the stench was awful.
My favorite store was without doubt, the German Deli - - best macaroni salad hands down.

My parents used to take us to Stella Doro's, which across from the Queens County Savings Bank. I loved that place! It was always a special treat when they took us there. They had the waitress's numbers up on a reader board and we would know which number our waitress was using. Mark and I would stare at the board and get all excited when our number lit up!

we went to stella d'oro too, i remember sitting at the round table, getting a pie and clams on the half shell. it was always a treat to go there,

We used to love Stella Doro's too....We would sit in the booths that were partitioned and at the top of the partition was a goldish crackeled glass. My sister and I always got in trouble for trying to look through!!

Oh my gosh - I remember Stella Doros!!! Was that on the corner? (Trying to remember but my 43-year old brain fogs up sometimes!) My parents and I enjoyed eating there. I wish we had some pictures of all these places!

I, too remember Stella Doro's. It was a special treat for my Parents to get pizza from there for Corey and me....I can still remember what it looked like inside.....and the smell--yummy memories

I REMEMBER THE MACARONI SALAD, FROM THE GERMAN DELI. AND IT WAS THE BEST...AND THAT WAS ONE OF THE LAST "NON-JEWISH" STORES THAT LEFT MAIN STREET. WHEN MAIN STREET WAS TAKEN OVER AND RELIGIOUS STORES WERE ALL MOVING IN, I REMEMBER ONE OF THE GUYS AT THE DELI SAID THAT IT WAS THEIR TIME TO GO. THERE WAS ALSO A LITTLE GERMAN DELI ON MAIN STREET NEXT TO THE A & P (76TH AVENUE) ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE QUEENS COUNTY SAVINGS BANK...ALSO I REMEMBER THE A & P MMMMMMI CAN JUST SMELL THE GROUNDING UP OF THE 8:00 COFFEE BEANS. THERE WAS A FAT GUY, JOHN WHO RAN THE PRODUCE DEPARTMENT, AND THE CASH REGISTERS....WOWOWOW I WONDER WHAT THEY ARE WORTH, THEY MUST BE SITTING IN THE SMITHSONIAN!!!! I ALSO REMEMBER WING LUCK
