I have to say that of all the teachers I had in elementary school, JHS, HS and college, Mrs. Farkas (who I had for virtually two years because Mrs. Giordano went on sabbatical) was by far the best teacher I ever had. I still remember and use things she taught me. Not kidding.

When I was in the Glee Club Mrs. Bromberg ran it and Mrs. Farkas played the piano. I was Yum-Yum in the Mikado in 4th grade and Josephine in HMS Pinafore in 6th ( I think the name was Josephine). I still have my Yum-Yum costume and some pictures. Robert Farkas was the male lead and we would rehearse at Mrs. Farkas' house. This was 1962 and 1964. I don't remember which show we did in 5th grade. I remember at a rehearsal in 6th grade hearing the news that JFK had just been shot. Anyway , any other memories would be appreciated. Abby

I too, was in South Pacific. The 1960 production. I played one of the sea bees and I still remember my one solo line. " We got volley ball and ping pong and a lot of dandy games." And speaking of ping pong, I do remember playing in the basement as part of a club activity.

I also remember the assemby gatherings where we learned and sang "The House I Live In" and "Ballad for Americans" and secular Xmas songs.

Hello Abby,

I remember you from Glee Club. I was in the chorus in HMS Pinafore. I remember your beautiful singing voice. And I remember hearing that JFK was shot at school and then going home to find my mother crying.

I certainly remember the Glee Club and Mrs. Bromberg. We did South Pacific and Bette Young had the lead. She actually "washed that man right outta her hair" right on stage. Anyone else rmember that?

I missed the offical try out for Glee Club and Mrs. Bromberg made me sing in front of the class. I froze, didn't make it and it scarred me for years. Today, I am the lead baritone in the Metropolitan Opera. Not really, but I do sing in my temple choir up here in Syracuse. :)

Sorry, it was sooooooooo long ago I couldn't even tell you what grade I was in. Lets' see 5th or 6th grade= 1969 or 1970?

Well, I remember when Mrs. Farkas was the music teacher and then became my 5th and 6th grade teacher (5-3 and 6-3). In early 1970's we put on shows such as The Sound of Music. Does anyone know if Mrs. Farkas is still alive?

Mrs. Farkas was the music teacher in approximately 1970 when the Sound of Music was cast. I was a nun and the "bird woman". Mrs. Farkas went on to become my 5th grade teacher after Mr. Weiss was fired because he was having an affair with another teacher. Mr. Weiss was my fifth grade teacher. They asked Mrs. Farkas to start teaching 5th grade after this. Does anyone remember this - 1970, 1971, 1972?
