Mrs. Berman's songs

Who remembers Mrs. Berman's French songs? I remember two of them. They were called "Qui me passera?" and "Mon Merle Aperdu Une Plume." Did every class have to learn these 2 songs, or was it just the Class of 1975?

We definitely learned Les Marseillaises and I can still sing it. I also remember singing Angels We Have Heard on High, although the French translation is escaping me at the moment. And there was one about Les Gendarmerie but I can only think of the chorus which had the words les gendarmerie in every line.

Janet -- Myra was 2 years ahead of me, 7 ahead of you ... so we overlapped taking French for 2 years at PS 164, ... I don't remember this particular song ... the only winter season song I remember is "C'est le bon homme de niege."

Uh oh this is getting scary. French songs from childhood are popping into my brain. Particularly the Christmas carols. Does anybody remember D'ou viens-tu bergere? I still remember most of it.

Class of '58 checking in....I remember Mrs. Berman well. She had us learn something French in the auditorium, although she wasn't the official music teacher person.

...and Mrs. Berman lived on my block, 73rd Avenue. It always seemed like a great honor to have a teacher living on our street.

I still remember all those songs! I ended up with my degree in French......

I remember Mrs Berman translating many songs into French. One in particular--My Own America, or Mon Amerique a moi. I wasn't in the French club, but I think she may have asked Mrs. Bromberg either to have her class sing it with the club, or maybe it was the Glee Club joining with the French club. I still remember the words in French--I guess because it was really hard, and it was really something I had to practice over and over. My mother spoke French and sounded it all out for me.
