Flushing, NY Trivia: Do You Remember This?

The best pizza I ever had was at Mama Lucy's on Main Street. It's been 30 years but I can still taste that pizza and can still see the two guys who used to work there flipping dough over their heads.

Anyone remember their names?

One of my favourite places was the deli on Vleigh Place. Keeping myself supplied with Italian ices, wacky packages and gum used up most of my spending money as a child!

Any fans of the deli here? Do you remember the names of the two guys who ran it? They were there for years and years.

Was the women's clothing store next to Brachs called new Dimensions? As a kid I remember sitting in there for hours while my mother bought clothes. Also there was a smelly fish store next to Capri pizza. My mother dragged me there also, I used to wait outside I hate the smell of fish!!!!!. The owner of Capri Mike owned a pizzeria in Forest Hills near Austin Street. Who knows, he might still own it. Angelos moved to the corner from the middle of the block .They made it into a really nice Italian Restaurant. The food is awesome,. I eat there like twice a year. It brings back a lot of memories, Who remembers hanging out there after school almost every day eatting pizza and talking to Cheech? Then going to Goodies and Jasols to play pinball? I heard the origional owner Angelo passed away a few years ago.

Frank & George owned the deli on Vleigh - a favorite for all - they even let my parents buy "on credit" and I would cash my dad's paycheck there.....sometimes.

The best pizza around.. Somewhere in one of the booths I carved my name. I don't remember their names though. Frank and George were the Deli guys. I think they were there for about 30 yrs.

Dear Patricia:

I used to go to Mama Lucy's--it seems every day for two slices and a pizza (I believe it cost less then a buck). It was right next to a Baskin Robbins. I went there so often, one day Nick let me go behind the counter and make a pizza. Totally cool/great memory.

I remember the main street movie house and being there for th opening of the Batman and Robin movie. Adam West and who ever palyed Robin actaully made an appearance at the Movie theatre.

I lived about a block away from the Mama Lucy's. The places I remember from the old neighborhood include the 5 and 10 store on Vleigh Place, Wing Luck Chinese Restaurant, Meal Mart for great knishes, Angelos, the new library being built, the bowling alley (Regency Lanes). I remember it fondly.

I don't remember the names of the two guys, but I remember that (2) slices and a soda cost $1.00, and the movie theater cost a dollar too!

in my day slices on Vlegh Place were 15 cents. the main street movie theatre was i think 50 cents, but might have even been 25...

I thought the best pizza was Angelo's on Main Street. Friendly and knew everyone. I remember going out for lunch and walking to Main Street to the coffee shop on the corner of the Post Office block. I believe it was Willy's. There hamburger lunch special was delicious and cheap. Like $1.25 for soda, burger and fries. Then with the change my mom gave me (that I was supposed to bring home) I bought Pixy Stix, Wax Bottles, etc. The more sugar the better.

No, Stella Doro was on Main Street across the street and a little to the left i think of the bank/library. it had pizza, but all the other italian things. also, a juke box and a bar. it was sort of large for a restaurant. "La Stella" was a fancier italian restaurant on Queens Blvd.
