Hi, Betsy!
I had to laugh when I saw your first note--"Was a tomboy." that was the first thing that entered my mind when I saw your name on the member list! I'm still in NY, but on L.I. I worked for the State as a Human Resources Director, and have been happily retired for 9 years. I marvel at your return to school at this point in your life. Having worked in several health-related facilities, I know there is a desperate need for more nurses, and starting salaries are quite nice. I wish you much satisfaction with your new career.
Have you noticed how many of us wound up in California or other points west? Not surprising at that moment in history...
You asked about John J Janoska Jr. At some point I tried googling a number of people that I knew once who had unusual names, the better my chances. Sadly, JJJJ is a name on the Vietnam memorial wall...
With all the complaining people do nowadays about public education, mine at PS 164 reminds me of how terrific it can be and often is! Being sports-minded, you were witness to the world of change in women's sports from our generation till now. My daughter from marriage #1 went to UC Santa Barbara and did gymnastics; my daughter from my current marriage (#2) is about to graduate from Colorado College after playing soccer there. God bless the women's movement!
I was a college dropout after HS. I learned guitar and played in some bands, moved to California to become a beatnik, then a hippie. Eventually decided to return to college at UC Davis, where I also got a PhD in psychology. Taught for a little while and have worked in clinical settings ever since. For the last 25 years I've headed up university mental health centers. As I said above, I'm wondering about what to do when I retire.
Anyhow, always nice to see old names/people pop up here and see what folks have been up to.
