Hi Carol--I've been quite the procrastinator about writing, but I remember you -- in my mind -- you are 50 years younger! What a treat to have this site to get back in touch after all these years. It sounds like you are doing some wonderful work and enjoying retirement. Would love to hear from you. Have you been in touch with many of our classmates? Best-- Janet
How nice to hear from you and I'm so glad you and Daisy stayed connected. Sounds like you are doing good works in the service of others and there is little I can think of that is more virtuous. Did you know my dear friend Phyllis Huffman at Warner Bros? She was a casting director there -- did all of Clint Eastwood's films.
Another close friend, recently widowed, just moved to LA which will bring me out there again. It would be so nice to reconnect, although I think it might be a bit of a perspective shock. I can hardly believe we left that protective coccoon 50!!!! years ago.
Thanks again for getting in touch. Let's keep this thread going. Amy
Hi Carol,
I'm sorry for your loss. I knew your folks, and they were lovely people. I lived @ 137-42. My father's still there and leads a pretty active life. Although my mother passed away suddenly a little over two years ago, he has a healthy attitude about life seeing everyday as a gift and still works, at almost 80.
The neighborhood has changed a lot. I don't live far. I remained in Queens, near St John's University. So I get to the neighborhood frequently. I have to run, but please keep in touch. Just let me know if you remember me. You're more likely to remember my brother, Neal. Take care and Happy New Yr!

Well, It's been a really long time, but I still have the sweetest memories of you and your family. I remained East Coast, married Richard, a 'fallen' Mormon, who has been my best friend, soul mate and business partner for 40 years. We have three wonderful sons, two French-American grandchildren who are the sunshine of my life. Do you come to New York ever? Do you know where Daisy Kates is? It would be so much fun to reconnect with all you 'down the block' girls. Lovely memories flood in. check out our website: hutchingsphotography.com Please share with anyone who might like to reconnect. Hugs, Amy
We have finally made plans to visit Ethan. SO, we are headign to LA on December 30. However, we will be in San Clemente until January 1. So, we are in LA from January 2 - January 6. Will you be around? How can I get in touch with you?
CAG,
4:51 AM; You're either a night owl or a very early riser, even considering PDT. I would like to hear from Eddie. I used make it out to San Fran several times a year, generally staying with Bill Schecter who has been Chief of Surgery at San Francisco General for years (although he has been talking about stepping down), it's been a while though since my last trip. Do you know if Eddie's wife is named Elizabeth? He met a woman when he visited me at McGill in 1964/65 and I heard a rumor that they eventually got married. I'm curious if the rumor was true.
I just found this website and I'm finding old friends and acquaintances. If you remember I lived up the street from you on 76th Avenue. I'm living in Whitestone and retired from the NYC School System in 2003. Sorry to hear about your mom and dad. My dad passed away in 2002 but mom is still around. She just turned 90 but the doctor tells her she acts like a 65 year old. I moved her out of the house in 2005 and it took a lot of convincing. When the area changed to ultra orthodox, that sense of neighborhood that we knew completely disappeared. I never would have moved my mom out if I knew there were people nearby who would be concerned. She's in a senior building now ( active, not assisted living) and has acquired a new circle of friends. Even though I'm about a 10 minute drive from the old house I have no interest in going back since it pains me to see how it has changed. It's amazing that a see names on this site that I haven't thought about in years. Take care and I hope to keep in touch.
Oh my - somehow I missed this email until just now.
Louise died 6 months ago. My mom kept in touch and we actually got to see her once about 5 years ago. I bought a Bokhara for my dining room about 20 years ago with fond memories of those in your parents house [and Beidermeyer-type furniture?]. I am glad you and Peter still have them.
Hmm - thanks for remembering the fun my family seemed to have on my back porch - not that I remember that! I do remember after school snacks at your house and your mother's wonderful garden and the weeping willow with the bench around it.
Flooding memories - yikes - to work now.
remmebr when Alice got hi to wera tights for a bacjyard play?
Hi CAG, I just read your posts on Linda's page, so now I know what is going on with you. Ken and I are still living in San Anselmo, and I am still working. Both my girls live in the Bay Area, but are not yet married. Hope you will add a comment on my member page. Also check out the other pics of me, Deb, my daughters, and my mom Bea, who is still living in Atlanta at a Jewish Home. Deb has been a marvelous daughter over these last 7years since mom moved there from Fla.
So sorry to hear of your parents passing. I will always remember them fondly! Were they able to stay in the house until the end?
Let's stay in touch!
I remember it all. Ellen went to the Parson's JHS prom, followed by dinner at JFK, with me, though I was slightly encumbered by a cast on my left arm having recently broken it at Alison Rosette's house. Linda has more that once reminded me that the prom does not evoke happy memories for her.
I'm sorry to hear about your parents. I never knew them well but I will never forget walking through Yad Vashem with them. Especially viewing the photo mural street scenes of Nuremburg as they pointed and identified people by name.
Deal. I have not made arrangements yet but I will let you know.
I still remember the Chevy pencil drawing that you did from your window. I remember it being impressive in detail and skill. And remember your mom's Bokhara [sp?] rugs, which I loved.
Ethan lives in Westwood. He is in grad school at UCLA. Is that near you? I plan to visit both kids in January and I would enjoy seeing you. Glad to hear about Corey. [This is all a little weird, but quite wonderful too.]
It's great that we can still be friends...after growing up on 76th Avenue over 60 years ago. And get to stay in touch with Debbie, Ann and Linda too....
Oh, my. A flood of memories. I remember that Corey and Erica are quite close in age. I also remember the dollhouse and the Chinese birthday party. I actually got htis website from Ann.Both my kids live in California: Erica [33] in Santa Cruz and Ethan [31] in LA. My parents live very near to us. They are not in good health but still live on their own. I did hear about Jeffrey. My parents had kept in touch with the Salgos and the Colettis. John Coletti pased away this year. Laura lives in Houston. Does Peter still live in Smithtown?
Although I did not really know your father, I have fond memories of your mother.
hi carol - greetings from south florida!! when my daughter was little, we made a doll house from a kit - and i remembered your walk-in doll house complete with electric lites - right? my folks used to get info from mike salgo before his death - haven't heard anything since so i am enjoying this website.
