Hello Bruce, It's great to hear from you and everyone from the old neighborhood. I haven't been back to NY in 30 years, although I keep threatening to do so every year. It sounds like you are doing very well and I hope to keep in touch with you. By the way, to paraphrase Mitch Schoor and Kevin Okeefe, what do you do in Minnesota in the winter? Take care-Scott
You and Mitch Schorr remember that throw. Was it that good?
It's great to hear from you and I hope you and your family are well and happy in Mn.
Jill and I made a 'pilgrimmage' to Queens last year and is was very interesting. Vleigh Place, Wow.
Lots of great memories with you. You were a great bball player.
All my best,
I've keep in touch with Warren Berger, Mitch Rymanowski (Rymo) although I haven't seen him in a few years, and Eliott Schnee. Otherwise haven't seen anyone from the old neighborhood. I live in Goshen (Orange County) now and my family moved away as well so I really have no reason to go back to Vleigh Place. Still, when I go to Kennedy Airport, sometimes I drive by and pick up a Falafel at Shimon's on Main Street. I'd love to attend a 164 reunion!
Hey Brudy,
It's real good to hear from you. Man I have a lot of fond memories that keep flooding back into my mind. This site has been incredible to jar things of the past loose and people's names that I have completely forgotten come streaming back in when I read about or see them comment. You know we really did have a special childhood growing up in the neighborhood. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Have you heard from Kowder (sp?), Romine or Raffee? I never pictured you as an attorney. I'm gonna run many memories by you over time - keep in touch!
Yes, Dave Earlbaum was a pal of mine as a youth, unfortunately I lost touch with him and years later I heard he was killed in an auto crash--not sure if it was true but never heard otherwise. Sam Kintzer and I both attended York College (CUNY) and renewed our friendship then, but it has been a long time since college and unfortunately we have lost touch.
Thanks for writing. Lanny is fine. Single and living in the Bronx. I get to see him a few times most years when I get to NYC for business and he always comes out to see his nieces and nephews in the summer. My older brother lives in Rhode Island and the three of us are getting together in June. That is pretty rare for us. Don Reichman and I have rekindled our connection a bit over the years. Mike Schwartz lived a few hours away when I was in CO and we got together a few times each year, and I always try to see Don and Jeff Schwartz when I get to NYC. Getting Frankel, Marcus, Elliott Levine and Stu Alperin together last month was a real treat -- like being with family.
KU is a good university, not unlike many of the other flagship universities in each state. Most have a lot to offer, though some kids do better at smaller places. My older boy went to University of Colorado at Boulder and had a great four years. Where is your daughter going? I know people at many universities and may be able to provide a connection for her.
Kansas is basketball crazy. Winning the tournament was something else. Going to games here is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Naismith (the inventer of the game) was our first athletic director, and people like Dean Smith, Adolph Rupp and a bunch of other giants of the game came through here -so there is a lot of history. Of course, none of them had the Night Center every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday night!
Hi Bruce,
Great to hear from youand to see everyone else who's popping up on this site. I left to Israel in ,75 but get back pretty often. My folks still live in KGH and I plan to be there for a week this July if anyone is looing for a stick ball game.
Mitch
Hey Bruce,
Didn't Rymo once have you hold that little firecracker "ladyfinger" with a short fuse that blew up in your hand? We were lucky it didn't blow your finger off. I would have gotten some early medical training.
Bruce,
Bruce,
Great to hear from you. Everything is real good. Its funny, I went out to San Fran a couple of years ago two days after you left for Minnesota. Hope to make it to the reunion if I can find my way out of the parking lot at
Roosevelt. Keep in touch, my email is tradertiv@yahoo.com.
yes Bruce, it is true I was a dave clark 5 fan back then. Of course my musical tastes have expanded since but those hits of the DC5 hold up pretty well.
Hey Bruce,
Great to hear from you, the site is growing and growing. Quite a trip down memory lane. It's cool to see the names from our youth. Just spoke to Tiv today, he was out in Los Angeles. When are you coming back to Cali ? Come in from the cold... Please
give my regards to your family. My e-mail, "dag5559@aol.com" and cell # 714-325-2285.
Yo. We used to wrestle and one of us, I forget who, was Hercules, hence Herc the Jerk, and the other Sampson, hence Sampsonite. I am a court reporter, been so for 34 years and have my own agency here for the past 25.
Bruce,
Your name rings a bell but my memory of you is not vivid. I see my brother has a better memory of you. None the less, we share some great memories of that neighborhood during those days. Glad you are doing OK.
Cheers
yes, because it was before the start of another terrible school week. Also, it was gary emmerman, not barry. are you in minnesota? I know you always liked the Vikings (lol) but didn't think you'd really follow them. Can't believe you remember my nickname. You know, Fro still lives in Vleigh.
Hey Bruce,
That reunion was lots of fun. Alperin, Marcus, Jeff Schwartz, Ginsberg, Levine, but where is Frankel and Schore. Frankel screwed up the time and came with Mitch about an hour late. We stayed for about 4 hours, passed around photos and tried to outdo each other with 164 trivia, Levine won. I speak to Mitch on occasion and he lets me know about the games we played and the catches we made, most of which I've forgotten. I certainly remember lots of intense b-ball with you at park drive east, good times. My brother is well, lives in Red Hook NY, north of Kingston. He just adopted 2 infants to add to his 3 other kids. Jon Steinberg lives in or near Minneapolis and is an attorney too, do you know him?
Brudy, Alan Harris here. How you be? Remember Herc the Jerk and Samsonite? I am here in Miami, two kids, daughter 24 and son 21. divorced. What's up with you?

Celtics are now looking tough, it would be great to see a Boston vs. LA series.
