Hello Jane,
Thanks for your comments about Goodies. I lived on Jewel Avenue. My house was down the block from Goodies. 2nd house down after the parking lot for the grocery store. The lot is no longer there. It is now filled in with buildings. Spent many a day at that candy store. Have fond memories of one of the counter men named Chris. Always very kind to the kids.
It was a great neighborhood. My friends were members of Flamingo Beach Club. I wasn't. See the great photo of the Miss Flamingo Beauty Contest on Victoria Baird's page.
Those were the days! Many memories.

I've been out of the City and the neighborhood for 38 years but I love coming back (especially to see the Mets!). This website and Facebook have allowed great reminisces. I remember Marty Ehrlich more than Barbara. he was my brother's friend. (You should put a photo up.)

Jane - I just spoke to my brother Jay. He thinks he remembered you and that you lived above the Erhlichs. We lived just across the alley from there, if I recall. Stew

You are probably confusing me with my cousins Fred and Bruce Berkowitz that lived a couple of doors away from the school

Jay is 63, I'm 55. We lived at 137-59 from about 1956 - 1961 then moved to 71st Ave.

When I saw "Janey" it rang a bell. Were you on 70th Road? It looks like you're closer to my brother Jay's age. Do you rememebr him? Thaks. Stew

Just read your comment on my page. Been a long time-hope you're well. This brings me back to those carefree 70th Road days.

Hi Jane, or should I call you Janie? I definitely remember you and Ellie. My sister Jamie has often thought about trying to find Ellie. Is she on this website? I know that Jamie would love to hear from her. I've been a little timid about reaching out to people from so far in the past. But we have family photos and movies where neighbors pop in and out so they've remained fresh in our memories. In retrospect, I remember the communal feeling of living on 70th Road. All you had to do was walk out the door and there was always someone to play with and some trouble you could get into. Thanks so much for reaching out and for reminding me about the connections on our block.

And I remember you as Janey and your sister Ellie. My brother is Neal, he is on here too and remembers you. I was on the phone with him as I saw your message. That was my mother Sylvia, always dressed well and working. She eventuallu had a very successfull womens' clothing boutique in Great Neck.

I think you might have been thinking of my sister Barbara, with the acting thing. She went to acting classes way back then, but never persued it.

Jeff is 62 and Alan is 59. Your younger sister is how old? To think back to 70th road is just incredible. Very vivid memories of that place!
