Nice to hear from you. Things are fine here in NM. I just finished a small construction project on my house and have been spending time with Evey's grandaughter (almost three) while Kira was out of town. Cag (Goldschmidt) and I went to Ecuador together last Fall (with two other friends) and she is planning on coming here in October. I'm about to visit my mom in Florida in early July. Please send my love to Debby. Maybe one of these days we'll all be able to meet again.

Oops, sorry for abrupt ending to last letter. I hit the wrong button and my text appeared below before I was ready to send it. Sorry. Anyway, not sure you remember me, but I'm sure you'd remember my brother. I have to run, but didn't want to seem rude by just sending that last letter.

I have to tell you, you look JUST like your mother. My mother passed away suddenly a little over two yrs ago. My father's still there but he bounces around, and is only in Flushing a couple of days a week. He still works, at almost 80! We're all there, in the family business, my brother, Neal, my father, my husband, and myself. Abbey Locksmiths.
Mine was the house that had the very old car in the driveway, some things don't change. My father still has an old car in the driveway, but this one is more clunky than classic. I need to encourage him to lose it. There was a time, he had the antique car, used in the business with signs painted on it, I believe. Do you remember the Orthodox family that lived next to the Goldschmidt's? I don't remember their last name, but they were Estee and Avrami. I've bumped into her in Jamaica Estates. They sold to another Orthodox family and I used to babysit for them through my teens up until my husband and I were dating.....wow! that was a lot of information...

I'm not sure if you got the news. Lillian Colletti passed away 2 weeks ago. She was the last of the originals. My parents bridge group.
Her daughter Laura is an MD and is married to an MD and they live in Houston. But they will be keeping the house.
One of their daughters lives in the city and they want a place to go when visiting NYC.

Hi Liz - How great to hear from you, and all of the 76th Ave gang. I loved seing the photos of you, Debbie and your Mom. You all look wonderful. Please send my love to your Mom - I've been in touch with Debbie. Do you ever come down to LA? I'd love to see you. My folks did stay in the house until the end. Pete and I just sold the house in September. Very sad and difficult. The only ones still on the block are Jeffrey Salgo and Lillian Colleti. More at another time.

I do run into Gloria and Neil on occasion. Sometimes I see them at salsa concerts and last time I saw Gloria in a food store. Next time I see them, I'll say hi for you.

I will stop at the library and say hi when I am in the neighborhood. I wasn't in orchestra. I was in SP and only spent 2 years at Parsons which left me totally unprepared for the social pressures of FHHS. Another good childhold friend of mine was Kenny Zuckerbrot, who lived close to you on 77th Ave.

BTW, my wife and I were married in San Anselmo at Montgomery Chapel.

After I left my last message I saw the photos on this site (my rural dial-up doesn't bring things up too quickly). Your mom looks fabulous. And I love the pictures of your daughters and Debby. Everyone looks beautiful.

Yes I went to Parsons Forest Hills HS and Queens College. I never left the neighborhood school until grad school at the Univ of Michigan. When I got tired of fighting with the draft board in Flushing I took a path of least resistance. I spent 4 years in the Air Force. Wow, Oklahoma City was an incredible shock. I moved to LA 6 months after being discharged and after 3 years in LA moved to San Francisco where my wife and lived until April.

I have not maintained contact with anyone from Kew Gardens Hills. My best friend in 6th grade was Steve Robbins. He went to YMCA camp with Mrs. G's son and was reassured when we found out she would be our 6th grade teacher. We both were traumatized by Mrs. Morrissey in 5th grade. A few years a go I met a young woman who I discovered was Mrs. Morrissey's grand daughter. I am embarrassed to say that almost 50 years later I could fell the bile in my throat.

Thanks for adding a letter to my page. It was great to see you again after all those years. And I'm really enjoying re-connecting to the 76th Avenue crew of friends. We all have a long history together. Please do encourage Debby to visit as well. I'd love it.

Yes, the Kates (Karl & Carla) were our next door neighbors. My sister Ellen Lipkind (on this site) still communicates with their granddaughter Kira and their daughter Daisy is also on this site. Our family was quite friendly with Hans & Renee and heard Hans had passed away a number of years ago but Renee's passing was more recent.
Hope you can make it to the reunion, it promises to be a blast!

Amazing how we are all connected and do not even know it. Glad to hear from you. It was great to hear from Debbie.

I will certainly send your regards to my parents. Although they are both living independently , they have many physical ailments. Since they live only a 1/2 mile away, I do see them often, which is a blessing I try not to forget.

Later I will look at your photos with my folks,. I knwo they will get a kick out of that.
