Bart,
Close but no cigar! The pitcher I caught was Mitch Mestell. As a sidebar, my 81 year old mom to this day tells everybody about a perfect game her son "Hesh" alledgely pitched in the Little League. Everytime I hear the story I just smile. In fact, it was Mestell who pitched the perfect game, I was the other end of the battery playing catcher!
As for Randy, I believe you are referring to Randy Gruen. That son of a gun could hum the seed, he was fast but wild. Randy could make a frieght train take a dirt road...pardon the Delaware expression. My first LL at bat was against the "Wild Thing". I was batting third with the Royals on opening day. Randy had already hit the first two batters, now it was my turn to become dead meat. I only saw two pitches, the second one drilled into my back, loaded the bases and got Randy tossed from the mound. LL rules, 3 Hit By PItch limit!
BTW, this week my wife and I are traveling up to NY for the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. On Friday, we will be making a pilgrimage to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. I hear they just inducted a fleet footed lead-off man. I'll look for your plaque! Talk with you later...Hal.
Hello Bart,
Nothing but net! At the P.S.164 gym or Park Drive East you were unstoppable from 20 feet out. Now when it came to baseball, I did manage to get a few hits off of you. BTW, your contribution to my 1968 autograph book reads as follows, "To Harold, the best catcher in QVLL". Chris Kodak might take exception with that statement. When I get the chance I'll post the page so you can view your penmanship from 41 years ago. Hope all is well... Hal Taylor.
Hey, Bart. Glad to hear about you after all these years. Great dogs. I remember you mainly from 10th grade at Hillcrest. After that , I moved out of Queens. Just curious if you have any intention of attending the reunion. By the way, your brother's band played at my wedding in 1986.
hi bart....should have thought of this earlier so i am sorry....not really sure if you went to parsons or campbells, but parsons had a reunion on saturday at the sly fox inn...mitch was there, aimee, helaine, missy etc...if you want to see pictures let me know....it was fun seeing everyone and feeling like i was 15 again...hope all is well..allison
im out here for the week till aug 16th, maybe hook up after the market closes during the week? play some 5-3-1 or some stickball, or me you and davy can go bowling at regency
The next time you come to the east coast we should have a reunion basketball game. I'll get Schoo to coach. Do you still play any ball?
I'm still in a Thursday night B ball game. Still can't jump, but can still shoot. I was out in Newport Beach a few years ago and hung out Davey Goldstein. Brad
Hi Bart, long time! how are you? are you still playing any ball?
I have 3 kids all in college or grad school and live in Great Neck, L.I.
I spoke to Tiv last week and he mentioned he spoke to you. regards Brad.
We are just minutes from Fashion Island. Let me know if you
are going to be in the "OC" anytime soon. Tivoli has been getting
out to Pasadena as of late, perhaps we can all meet up in LA.
As you know Bruce was in SoCal, then NoCal, now in Minn. Not
aware of anyone else from the old crew in SoCal. A couple of my sister's friends reside in LA. I had heard that Stu Bittman had a
chiropractor practice in Tahoe ??
As for my law practice, I just mainly focus on juvenile law, family law, and some criminal defense. Never a dull moment. It sounds
like you doing great, but if you keep having dreams of Rudman, then we need to talk...
Hey, you. Alan Harris here. Remember me? Lived on 79th Avenue. Our moms played maj jong together, along with goldie Berger and Bev Zivo. I am living in Miami. I see you told Warren that your mom is in Tamarac. So are my parents. They are west of University. I wil see my parents Sunday and ask them if they know your mom is there.
We definitely played ball in the QVAA. I don't remember what teams. I think we also played football with Rudman, Lanny Ginsberg, Stu Bittman, Jerry Reichman, etc. I also have 2 dogs, a Rottweiler & a Collie, and a cat. And yes, marriage is much better the second time around.
Ken
hi bart, nice to hear from you. those were great games back then, however it has finally caught up to me. played BB with Brad twice a week, then once a week (boys gym), then once a week ( girls gym) until 50. got tired of the injuries, chasing 25 year old kids and Brad yelling at me to run.
married for 30yrs, two boys 23 and 20. older son resides and works in nyc (investment banking), younger one attends indiana u.
over the yrs, had dinner with bruce and talk to warren. (warren really put the word out on this)
take care, zivo.
hi bart...yes this site is great, i told lori elson about it also...things are good, mike doing well, kayla going into her fourth year of college and sarah is graduating HS.....growing up too fast...and i have decided to stay 39....the last time i saw tull i was very disappointed in ian's voice, but i would be willing to give it another try...too bad we don't live closer to go together, that would make it enjoyable....how are things with you...regards to everyone....allie
good to hear from you, too. let's see. my parents live in delray beach, fl. commercial real estate in ny in tough. prices are very high right now for office and retail space and no one seems to be in the market for space because they are waiting to see what happens with prices. a lot of tenants seem to just be waiting everything out. Sorry to hear about your dad. i remember him well. Hope you enjoy tull. we are all into springsteen here. speak to you soon. warren

Next trip out I will call you, sometime in July I'm sure. You started a trend, I had a dream the other day and Duffy was in it.
