Bruce - you do know that most girls had a crush on you in elementary school. You were a cutie. From reading some of the messages on this site, I saw that others made the same comment. If I recall you went to Parsons? It's funny to see how many people live in So. Florida. I work in Ft Lauderdale and drive 48 miles each way to work. Did you attend the reunion? My sister and I only found this site recently so we did not. I love the group photos that have been posted. We were in the old neighborhood about 2 years ago. What a change. It was all Temples and kosher shops. Best to you and your wife. Jean
Hey Bruce, I haven't heard from you in a while. Actually I just saw your message from several months ago. Something was wrong with my em address so I just changed it. I hope you are doing well. Jerry
Very true about facebook. It blurs the line between all of the schools, though sometimes it's nice just to focus on being a pre-teen again. I am really enjoying seeing all of the familiar names.
We are in Coral Springs, if I were fit, walking distance from the Coral Square Mall. It seems that a lot of people from the neighborhood made it down here and settled not to far from each other. Makes me wonder how many friends I've passed in the street over the years and didn't realize it.
I am sorry to hear about your illness. You do sound like you're in good spirits.
Looking forward to our next chat, maybe even on facebook.
Bruce,
Sorry it took so ling for this reply. The site seemed to have petered out. I've lived in Coral Springs since 85. Where is No Miami are you heading?
Wow. I'm making you president of my fan club and you are the only member besides Jill...sometimes.
You always got the girls and I could not compete!
Hope you are felling okay. Sorry to hear about your illness.
Jill and live in Marlboro, NJ in Monmouth Cty. We've been here over 20 yrs and 7 + in E Brunswick before.
I looked up Steinberg about 15 yrs ago as he is an atty in Minneapolis. We met for a quick beer at the airport on my way out of town and that was it. You can find him on the web if you search atty's in Minneapolis.
I only visit this site occasionally but I was glad to hear from you.
All our best!
If only we could go back! How beautiful our skin was; now my husband and I buy these expensive face creams (yes he uses it too). Your wife is lovely BTW. I will keep in touch, Jo
Beany!! Haven't heard that in nearly half a century!! Now I'm not sure I really was the first to "mature" but I'll try to remember it that way! Not only were you the prettiest, but the class voted you that! IAmazing to think back on those days and hear from old friends. Elliot and I will try to get together sometime soon and I'm sure the stories will soar. All the best to you and your family! Keep in touch.
Hi Bruce. Nice to see your picture and all the old faces. (You were always the best looking!) Elliot Levine got me started and we just got off the phone. I'm living in Manhattan and I posted some pictures of my family if you want to have a look. It would be great to see you if you plan on coming North at some point.
All the best, Rob.
Hi Bruce,
It is so good to see you here on my pc! I am living in Boston, where I met my husband about 17 years ago. We have 2 boys, one in high school and a 5th grader. We just returned from our annual trip to Florida - you are so lucky you're no longer in the cold! Sharon and Steven are doing great - I just called to tell her you were on the web site and she sends her regards. As you probably know, my parents are still there, along with Mrs. Gentini. I still remember my mother sending my sister to rake the leaves everytime she saw you outside! (too funny, huh :) Keep in touch if you can. xox
Hey Bruce, I haven't heard from you since our visit in October. I may be planning a trip to Fla. in the next several months. I'll let you know. I hope all is well. Regards to Faye. I hope Sam is doing well. Jerry.
Hi Bruce, Just wanted to drop you a note and see how you're doing. We had a nice Thanksgiving--which seems very far in the past now--despite my son coming home with a bad case of poison sumac all over his neck, chin, and shoulders. We just got our first bad dose of winter up here--almost makes me wish I lived someplace warm like you. Anyway, just wanted to see how you're doing these days. Take care, Adrienne
Bruce, hi, I've been meaning to write and say hello; things have been pretty crazy for me. I think the last time we saw each other we'd run into each other at Queens College, and you gave me a ride home. I was married to Jack Miller at the time, Steven's older brother. I think you may've told me to give you a call if it didn't work out. Well, it didn't ---- but that wasn't until 30 years later! Anyway, I found out about this website from Mark Adamsbaum-- as well as your medical condition -- and I'm pleased about the website but really sorry for the latter. But isn't it great to hook up with old friends this way?? All best, Diane
Hi Bruce, It was so good to hear from you!! I had to laugh when you reminded me of that little poem people wrote inside your grad book. I think they wrote the same one about you in my book. Weren't you and I class president and vice president one year--maybe in 6th grade? I sort of remember you and I monitoring the class whenever Mrs. Bromberg would go down to Mrs. Berman's 1st grade class and we were waiting for Mrs. Berman to come up and teach us French.
What is an industrial appraiser? And what brought you down to Florida? I guess a lot of people down there must be happy about the Tampa Bay Rays? I am, too. Around here, the rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox is at a real peak. Everyone seems to support one team or the other and no one is neutral. Anyway, loving the Yankees as I do I couldn't have dealt with seeing the Sox get into another World Series.
I'd love to hear about that wonderful son of yours. I bet he did a great job on his Bar Mitzvah!! Congratulations on that.
Hey Bruce,
It's been a long time! I'm so sorry to hear about your neurological condition. I hope it stabilizes.
I have alot of fond memories of our times together from elementary school up to college. Where did all the time go?! It seems like just yesterday that we were walking to school, flipping baseball cards on the way, playing stickball, basketball, softball, touchfootball at the PS 164 schoolyard, little league baseball, etc. How about all those nights of poker in your basement with Arthur Muchnick, Dan Heimowitz, Mark Adamsbaum, Bobby Glass and others, followed by late night dinners at Enzios! Then there was Parson's Junior High School, then John Bowne High School, then SUNY at Buffalo.
It's great to hear about your wonderful wife and son. I too have a son named Sam. He's my oldest (23). My daughter Shana is 21 and youngest son, Josh is 17. I too have a wonderful wife. Her name is Sydlee (very original) and coincidentally her middle name is Faye.
My mom lives in Florida, in Coconut Creek, near Boca/ Ft. Lauderdale (age 93 and still independent, doing well). I'll be visiting her in one week. I'm not sure where Aventura is but I would certainly make the effort to get together if that would work out for you. Let me know. Jerry
Hi Bruce, I just found this site, courtesy of Jeff Salgo, and when I saw your name posted knew I had to write. Sorry to hear about your form of Parkinson's. I read your comment to Elliot Levine so I guess it is getting pretty advanced. You and I had a lot of good times together in elementary school. I don't think I was your first flame--I think that was Lori Kranze--but I guess I was your second. You were certainly my first meaning I will always have a soft spot in my heart for you!! I'm glad you found such a super gal to marry and have a great son. How old is he? David--I think you met him at the John Bowne reunion--and I have been married for nearly 17 years. Our son Spencer is 11. I think of all you guys a lot--particularly now that Spencer is so involved in baseball. He has a game coming up in about an hour, in fact, and it is just great to watch him. He's gaining some confidence as a hitter although is not the best but you should see him pitch!! He's really awesome to watch. I guess you can tell how proud I am of him. Anyway, I would love to hear how you're doing and all about your family. Take care, Adrienne (Adey)
Hey there Bruce! You finally made it onto the site - and I didn't even know it. Sorry not to greet you sooner. Hope your doing okay. Have you found the PS 164 Ballplayers discussion yet? There's some good stories there you could add to. I've got one on Ed Flynn I've been trying to find time to write up. Wish we could get Shoo on here - there's the guy with all the stories, though it might be hard to get him to write them down.
This site's been great for reconnecting. I've heard from a bunch of folks I'd never expected to hear from again, and it's sharpened all my memories of the neighborhood (especially the stores on Vleigh Place and Main St.). Glad to hear that Allyn Cohen's on the site now - I'll have to write him, too.
Thanks for hooking me up with Len Berman's newsletter - I've been enjoying it.
So - looking forward to hearing from you again!
Take care,
Rick
So nice to hear from you, Bruce!
You know that our feelings are mutual.
If you want to write to me off site, my email is: rfcrobespierre@msn.com
A Happy and HEALTHY New Year to you and your family! I'm driving down to Maryland on Sunday to be with Allyn and his family for the holiday. My mother is flying up to join us. I will tell them I heard from you.
Best,
Robert
