Hello. I am second from the left on the last row. My career has been in academic medicine specializing in leukemia and stem cell transplantation. Most of my work was at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently, I am working at the City Hospital in Nashville helping the underserved. My wife Barbara and I have been married for closed to 39 years and we have two grandchildren also living in Nashville. Our family has had a very privileged life beginning with fond memories of playing baseball in the school yard at PS164 Queens. Not sure we can make the reunion. Steven
I like to introduce myself as I'm sure you don't remember me. I'm Joe Buccheri's younger sister Rosann. I haven't been on this sight for awhile But, I saw your name and remembered how Joe spoke so highly of you. It's nice to know that Joe's childhood friends still remember him and speak highly of him. I saw that the Murphy's where mentioned. From what I can remember Terry Murphy was badly wounded in Vietnam and is paralyzed. I do know that the family moved from the area in the mid 80"s as I was still living on Main Street & 78th Road. I hope you get a chance to relax more & travel less.I hope all is well with you & your family.

HI Fumio,
I check this site occaionally to see who may have signed on. Just wanted to say hello and let you know that I still think about PS 164 and the friends I grew up with. Hope all is well with you. Let me know if you ever come to San Francisco.
Hey Fumio, I just thought I would write to see how things are. I was answering a note from Elise and I would write you.
All is well here in Deposit. Retirement is ok but I wish I did not get hurt so I could still be working. Summers are OK but the winter is boring. When Maria retires (4yrs) things will be different. I may go to tis reunion but I am not sure. I doubt there will be many from 1960 other then Elise. If I am in the city I will pop in but I can not make plans that far inadvance. I look at the class picture and it brings back many memories. When I see the picture of Risa Greenburg I think how I would always pop her bra strap and get in trouble. Great years.
How is everything with you and your family? Are you still traveling a lot?
My son is out of the Navy and living in Arizona whils my daughter is expecting her first child in March. needless to say my wife and I are very excited.
Well I gotta go so keep in touch and let me know when you will be in the city again. I would love to see you.
Marty
Hi Fumio,
This is Elise Cooperman (now Muchnick). I am standing in the top row right corner in the class photo for 6-2.
I found my autograph book from 164 and Parsons and saw that you had signed both. This is great fun finding out what people are doing after all these years.
I am a commercial real estate broker in Manhattan and have lived in Manhattan since 1970.
Are you coming to the reunion in June-such a nice time to visit the big apple
Take care,
Elise
I cannot believe you and Yumiko remember me, although I certainly remember both of you very well. I just wanted to quickly answer your greeting to let you know how good and surprising it was to hear from you. I will write more, perhaps this coming weekend. By the way, I live in CT, but you may already know that! It sounds as if you're living in Japan. Do you ever journey to the USA and what do you think of the presidential candidates?
I returned to Tokyo in May of 63. i had to do 2 extra years of Junior high to catch up on my Japanese. So I graduated from university in 73. After that have been working in a same bank for 35 years.
Whata have been doing after garduating from Parsons? Where do you live now.
Hey Fumio, I remember you. This is Dennis Taylor. When we were in JHS, a team near Parsons JHS came to Vleigh Place to play football. I got clocked early and you and Joe Bucari came in. You scored the game winning TD. Am I ringing a bell?
Andy & Ernie
I am encouraging Marty, Joe and Fred to join. Joe used to play at St Louis Cardinals after he graduated from University as a catcher. He then teached and at high school in Citrus Florida and also became a head coach of the baseball team. Joe may the only garduate who played at MLB from PS164. It was before expansion so Joe must have been exteemly good baseball player.
Fumio
Ernie, Terry's twin sister name was Sandra and younger sister name was Patty.
I will add the names during this weekend. I get home quite late in the evening almost every day during the week. Now it is 00:52 in Tokyo.
Fumio
Fumio, I've read your emails with Rick. The Murphy's bring back memories. There was also a sister (Sarah?) who had an interest in me, but as an immature 12 year old, I didn't have a clue and the brothers were pretty intimidating. What happened to your list of names in the 6th grade picture? I added more names for you, but don't see it online.
Ernie
Hi Rick
Well my home town is Tokyo. It is very difficult to relax as you say these days because Tokyo is a very crowded city. I always take a short vacation by myself for fishing in most south island in Japan. Life style in Japan is quite different from US or Europe. We work too hard and do not take enough vacation to relax. I will be travelling twice in April. first trip tp Vietnam and Malaysia, second one to Ghana, UK, and France. I will be travelling again in May and June.
I remember the football incident. I think it was Bobby Murphy not Terry who threw the pass. I wonder what happened to them. I was told one of them died during Vietnam War.
Hi Fumio -
What an interesting career! I've heard of the Export-Import Bank of Japan, of course (though I hadn't heard it's new name). I remember Fred Bergsten's name too. As a player at one of the key institutions shaping the global economy, you must have some interesting stories and perspectives. Any videos you can post of talks you've given?
So where do you call home these days? What do you do to relax from such a busy, globe-trotting life?
Warmly,
Rick
ps: I remember the incident Ernie wrote about, where you got drilled in the stomach with the football. I recall it was a short, hard pass - too short, too hard, not meant to be caught - but I can't recall who threw it (one of the Murphy boys was my first thought - you weren't the only one that happened to).
I also have the photo of Calss 6-2 1960. You are the tallest boy in the class but it seems that we had 3 or 4girls who were taller than you. I remember all their faces but it comes names I remember about half of them.
Why did you move to SF Bay area after graduating from College. It may be difficult find all of them but if youcan get to Jamaica High school Alumini you may get some information. I found Marty by calling Oklahoma U. and U. Okalahoma. In case Fred Zelinger I asked oue secretary in NY office to look for his name in the Yellow Book and found him. Marty rememberd Joe's university and through their Alumini I found him and through Joe I got in touch with Steve Wolfe. If you have time to spare it is actually enjoying trying find your good old friends.4
If it was 1958, then it was 4th grade with Mrs Rosenberg. She was the opera lover. In 5th I had Mr Edelson and Mr Goldmacher for 6th. I remember a heavy set asian girl who didn't speak English at first, but always surprised us with her math answers. I can't remember her name now. I recall something like Susie or Yumi. I went on to Parsons JHS, Jamaica HS and Queens College with many of the same kids from kindergarden on up. Unfortunately, I don't have contact with anyone from those days. I remember still seeing Steve Wolf in College. I've lived in the SF bay area since 1980 and haven't been to NY in over 20 years. We got a great education at PS 164 and I love going to this site to see who may have registered that I know. I have the 1960 6th grade class picture and I'm desparately looking for some older ones. I'll try to post it. Best, Ernie
