Here's my Mockingbird story- I get home from work one nite and Daughter is at the kitchen table surrounded by the contents of my baking cupboard trying to replicate the cake the caretaker makes called a Lane cake at 7:30 at night. We had to google how to stiff egg whites. Needless to say they did not stiffen by 9:30PM so we just folded them into the batter as it, frothy as it were. however the cake was a big success the next day for her project. As I write this Judy Collins is singing, Dark Eyes. Do you know it.

Jeff, don't know if you will remember me (Miriam, friends with Stuart Schneider in my earliest years; lived across the street from 164) but I remember you better later under the nickname "Pacifica" as you introduced many of us to WBAI and led me to a lifelong interest in counter-culture, BAI, NPR and eventually Air America in it's early daays when it had great ptogramming (now long gone). Nice to see the pics!

In a perfect world I would find the time to call people and convince them, but that is not going to happen. We are staying at Nancy Goldstein's house on the island. I think that you should come because this will be a once in a lifetime event - you can write about it.
But if you have a terrible time, I don't want to be responsible, so I'm not a very good convincer.
Will they be serving alcoholic beverages? Do I need to diet for this event?

Great looking family. I confess that I would not recognize you. Next time that my family is all together, I will take a picture of us and post it.
Just back from Paris and it was everyhthing Madame Berman in fourth grade said it would be.
Now, back to the real world.

haven't heard of chabon. when i read of the jews my favs are ahron appelfeld and singer, as in isaac bashevis. just caught on to a.e. proulx, an american who writes about true grit americans, tough stuff, sort of like cormac mccarthy.i found 2 copies of elements of style in my house.i wrote a short article for my running club's newspaper about swimming a mile in the ocean this past summer. it was easier to do the swim.

It will be my last trip for a long time since the economic crash. Well, I hope you make it to the reunion. We're all staying with Nancy, whether she likes it or not.
I was in France at age 16 and 19. I remember the eclairs that are filled with chocolate like pudding. Yummmmm.
Getting ready to do the 3 day breast cancer walk in two weeks.
Now I can spice up this email and ask you who you're voting for, but I think I know the answer.

Hi Jeff,
Will you be at the reunion next year? Nancy, Barbara, and I are talking about going. We need to convince Kathy that it will be fun. My friend's daughter is Emily Cohen (common name). But I'm sure that there are not too many kids from Atlanta.
Did my girls come back from college with an attitude? I don't think so. They lived far away so they were happy to have a plane ticket home. It's funny having a 25 year old. She is very grown up with a boyfriend who is 29, not little kids anymore.
My middle daughter is living in London and trying to get a visa and work. She has a Lithuanian boyfriend that she is living with. I would like my money back that I spent on her college education. Just kidding. She will return eventually and need that degree to get a job.
I will see her (Jessica) in November. I am going with my mom, sister, niece (age 22) to Paris. My mom is 83 and always wanted to go there. Jessica is meeting me. I will have to remember my French that Madame Berman taught us in elementary school.
Got to get to work!
