Wow...I have actually tried to look you up a few times. I am pretty sure you will not remember me but I had a an enormous crush on you. I remember so many times trying to impress you (to no avail obviously).

susann,
boys were jealous of The Beatles because all the girls were in love with them. my sister, in her 2nd or 3rd grade class photo was wearing an "I Love The Beatles" button as were alot of the other girls (sometimes individualized to "I Love Paul," etc. - the "I Love Paul" was the most popular. When my father saw the class photo with many of the girls accessorized with those, he said "when you're an adult, you will hardly remember who The Beatles were."
PS 164 was special because of an indefinable "good vibe." the, for lack of a better term "arts-vibe" is what might have spawned Simon & Garfunkel, etc.
And, yes, I wouldn't live anywhere but New England.
regards,
peter
p.s. - and the picture is now posted on my page (the one from Park Drve East; 1957)
susann, i am gathering the photos to scan. some good ones (my father good amateur photog) at our 1st apartment (77-17 138th st - half-block from 164) mid-1950's stoop-sitting; old cars, etc. Adventurers Inn, 137th street street scenes (we moved there in '56) - quite atmospheric...
hi susann,
i am a new england guy, wouldn't live anywhere else (re: "why i live in Massachusetts"). you just turned 52 Friday? i turned 55 Wednesday. and, i could throw out theories of why people are more attracted to the PS164 days than jr/sr high, but i'm not sure. i might remember your brothers...my regular email is: estherwasmydog@yahoo.com - please remind me to post the pictures - promise to get around to it, but need prompting. i had a girlfriend in camp (1963) who went to Shea Stadium for The Beatles concert. she wrote me about it during the school year, and, for some reason i got jealous that she was screaming for The Beatles...
Susann: "Mrs. Russell," cool. Seem to remember the teachers would teach different grades. Mrs. I have all my class photos somewhere and will hopefully get around to scanning and uploading. The pictures, on the whole are excellent. I remember the photographer (I am a professional photographer) used a huge 8x10 View Camera, which is why the images have such excellent resolution. Well, that might be TMI...thanks for replying...obviously i have no life latley except this PS 164 site (well, i do have a few other hobbies...)
regards,
peter
p.s. - trying to get my sister to join here, but, she is one of the least nostalgic and unsentimental people i know...
WOW TEAM TEACHING WITH RITA. SEND HER MY REGARDS. SHE WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH. I JUST HEARD FROM SHEILA AND ALL IS WELL WITH HER. I MISS EVERYONE AND WISH THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET THERE BEFORE THE TERM ENDS BUT CAN'T. WILL KEEP IN TOUCH AND IF YOU EVER DECIDE TO MAKE A TRIP TO FLORIDA PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
Thought i might have recognized you - but, you are too young. however...my sister might have been in your class: Peggie Monroe; would have graduated 1968 but we moved to Great Neck in '65. i am in one of the class pics: 1965/Class6-2 front row 2nd from left. I didn't hear about a reunion this june but would be interested. where on the site is that posted? i am most impressed at people's memories that are on here. always considered mine excellent (i was a Jeopardy contestant, for chrissakes) and the disccusion/trivia with the pizza place on Vleigh, etc...wow. One discussion i have not seen is about the AAA monitors (of which i was one, and the political proceess upon which you needed to get appointed (your 5th grade teacher chose for the 6th grade appointment...) a real power trip for an 11-year old...
regards,
peter
HI THERE, HOW IS EVERYTHING WITH YOU GOING? THE SUNSHINE STATE IS GREAT BUT I MISS PS164 AND ALL MY FRIENDS THERE. KEEP IN TOUCH. HAVE YOU HEARD FROM OUR MUTUAL FRIEND?
