Hi Corey, I can't believe I'm hearing from you after all these years. I think about the old neighborhood very often. They were wonderful times. Thank you for posting all the pictures of 164, I can see it like it was yesterday. Your parents look wonderful and hopefully enjoying life at Bay Terrace. I know the neighborhood has changed, as I drive through every so often. I look over at your house and think of your wonderful Grandmother sitting outside. Hope you are enjoying life in sunny Calif. I will have to contact Cindy next!

Hi Corey,

It's good to connect after SO MANY years! It will be nice to get reacquainted with you and other PS 164 friends. Obviously, a lot has changed and happened since we were 10 years old! I hope all is well with you.

Corey,
Just heard on the news that there is a huge fire in Palos Verdes. Hope you are nowhere near it.
Stay safe.

Uggghhhh!!! I love King's Hawaiian Bakery! I got into NY Tuesday morning to work on a picture called "shanghai" starring Chow Yun-fat, Gong Li, Ken Watanabe and John Cusack. I unexpectedly worked on "The Philanthropist" today. Did you make it to the reunion? Are you in Torrance? I've been eating my way through Manhattan since I got here!

Hi Corey!
It was nice meeting you too!
I will ask around for some nice places to eat your way...Torrance has good Japanese restaurants...and Hawaiian ones too. My email is metalmikki@aol.com. By the way, i you like chocolate cakes, the chocolate dobash cake at King's Hawaiian Bakery in Torrance is very good.

I've been living in LA so long, Costco's pizza tastes good to me...until I go back to NY and get some orange grease dripping down my arm! As I walk the streets, I do find myself scanning for remnants of a time before. I love the painted signs ghosting on the sides of buildings 5th Avenue or the lower east side. I highly recommend Jeff Kisselkoff's "You Must Remember This". He interviewed his parents' friends (mostly Jewish) and each chapter is a different neighborhood in Manhattan: Lower East Side, Upper West Side, Hell's Kitchen, etc., as people talked about where and how they lived. How the Jews built the Upper West side because they weren't allowed to move into the Upper East Side, how Queens was a dumping ground for dead horses, etc. A great read.

Although the neighborhood has changed, it still has the old neighborhood feel I remember...especially Vleigh Place.

Thanks for watching my movies on youtube. I had a sitcom pilot deal but otherwise, it's such a long haul to getting a screenplay made into a movie that making short films are very satisfying. HOnestly, the best pizza I've had is at Costco. Don't know about a good bagel that would rival Yonah Shimmel (sp?) on the Lower East Side. I would hold out until I"m back in NY and eat fabulous sushi out here!

You have a great memory. We have a golden retriever, our second dog. This summer he sired 10 puppies. That was a job and a half. Your family looks beautiful. All the best, Karen

Hi Corey,
I am jealous that you left the cold of NYC. How are you? I see Michael every few months through work- he is such a great guy and he told me about this website. I still keep in touch every couple of months with Patrick (RIcky) Byrnes and do you remember Cheryl Gittelman (seh went to Hillcrest not 16t4). I keep in touch with Cheryl. It has been great to see everyone's site and pics- you look the same- Are you going to be able to come in for the reunion? My mom left Queens about 12 years ago and I can't wait to go back to see 164 as it is one block from where our apt was. Take care and great to connect. -Jackie

Flushingites go far! I have a brother who lived in Fairbanks for a heap of years and there were other Queensites there! Welcome to LA. Did work bring you out to warmer climes? Thanks for watching Miss Mah Poo. I'm working on the next episode!

I can't believe my parents are still there in the same house. I spoke with Ron last week and he mentioned you moved. Good for you. Winters here bite. Is that your daughter in the picture? It was a little dark.

Hi Corey. I graduated in 1965 (wow, that really ages me!). I lived on Vleigh Place and 76th Ave. I don't remember the Moo and Brew, but I associate great times with the neighborhood and PS 164. One of my brothers still lives in the area in Forest Hills. I live in Lunada Bay. It would be great to get together some time. You can em me directly at jcohen@southbaygastro.com
