Hi, I just bought this new laptop and I'm not used to it yet so I think I cut myself off before and inadvertantly sent you the message in the middle. Anyway, what I was trying to say was that Anne Warren said you 'd be coming to the HS reunion in Fla in Sept.... yes?
Hey Adreinne*
So glad to see you found this site! You look great and of course very happy!
I still remember our dinner in the village and how time flew by as we talked about our growing up there*
We have never been to Martha's vineyard but I hear it is really nice. I work in a school but we are always having class starts so we have very little down time. I just got back from Tampa where I attended a leadership conference with people from other Career Education schools. We have medical training schools as well as design and culinary. In October I get to go to Chicago where the home office is for a controllers conference. At least it is not January. My sister is in upstate NY this weekend for a wedding. I wish we lived closer to the border of the state so we could travel more outside of
Florida. It has been awhile since we saw changing leaves.
You are absolutely correct. That picture was taken in the Smoky Mountains National Park on the Tenn/N. Carolina border. We love it up there and try to go every December for some R&R. We rent a cabin, take the dogs and relax. What are you up to these days?
Hi, Adrienne; thanks for remembering my birthday! Didn't realize (or recall) that it was the same as your mom's. I remember your mom with great fondness... teaching typing, for one thing (f-f-f-space, j-j-j-space...), and bringing me all the stuff I needed to stay current on my home/school work when I had pneumonia at the beginning of 7th grade and had to miss the first two weeks of school. Sorry I haven't been in touch much lately -- I've been catching every germ the preschool set can give me, but I can't afford to miss a day's work, so I've basically been trying to tough it out, but the truth is I've been sick almost non-stop (strep, bronchitis, pinkeye, etc) for literally months now. So I pretty much go to work, then come home and collapse. However, Friday I was so bad that I took (yet another weekly) trip to the doc and he ordered me to stay home through Wed. And I'm finally starting to feel a little better. And how're things with you and yours? And thanks again for remembering!
Hi Adrienne. So great to hear from you! That is a beautiful picture of you and Spencer. Hearing "Beanie" brings memories rushing back. The class pictures on this site are just incredible. Yes we are living in Manhattan and have been here since 1990. Give a shout if you are in town and want to say hi.......All the best...Rob
My pleasure, these trips down memory lane are fun. I have been in the Atlanta
area for 20 years now, too bad you didn't know when you were here!
I was going to be an electrical engineer, but ended up getting involved in building
the college radio station at SUNY New Paltz. And from that I pursued my career in first radio
and then television in Texas, Florida and now Atlanta. Whew, what a long strange
trip it's been. And I saw that Elliot Levine beat me to the thanks to your mom for
teaching us all how to type...actually something learned in junior high school
that turned out to be useful!
So glad to hear from you! The picture of you and your son is adorable. One of my really fond memories is walking to school after lunchtime one day, and you stopping me and telling me I had forgotten my gym sneakers. And I was so grateful to you that you had stopped and reminded me! Funny what sticks in your mind after all these years! Karen
Winters in Syracuse are intense -- 120-180 inhes of snow, lake effect off lake Ontario, etc. But hey, I've been in this area about 37 years now so what the heck. My wif eis from here and has 7 younger siblings, so we're not going anywhere. It's actually a great community in which to live. Luckily Jan - Feb I have (2 done) trips to Scottsdale, SoCal and Orlando upcoming. I do mgt training as a sideline to my ad/pr agency. it's a great gig. My daughter is in college (my alma mater) at Oswego, 40 miles north of here and it is absolute tundra. When you get a chance, if yo like, email me at stew@koenig-adpr.com, so we can communicate that way as well.
My name is Ann Hirschfeld, I think we were in some classes together. Saw your name and thought I would drop you a lione. This Web sire definitely brings back great memories. My brother John lives in Weswt Hartford. I don't know if you knew him.
Hi, Adrienne, glad you had a nice Thanksgiving, and hope the sumac's nothing more than a(n itchy) memory for your son. Mine was nice, too; I managed to squeeze in a dozen for dinner at my apartment. Since most of us out here are from elsewhere, our friends become our family. But now Thanksgiving seems so long ago already, doesn't it? Looking ahead to the holidays now, which will be spent with the same group of friends. How about you?
Also looking forward to starting work Monday at the preschool -- pay sucks, commute's worse, but I think it'll be something I'll enjoy nevertheless. I've got to pick up my car late today from the auto body place... and I've been taking my own body into the "shop" as well, with chiropractic and massage therapy appointments -- I do like the latter; it hurts, but it hurts so good.
So -- what about you? How is work going? And I've been meaning to ask you -- where else have you lived? What areas of the country do you prefer? I've lived in NY, Calif., Fla and then out here, and I always find myself homesick for NY, even though there was plenty to like about the other places.
Hi, Adrienne, Great picture! And sorry I dropped out of the conversation for a bit; things have gotten a little difficult on my end. Was recently rear-ended, and dealing with that, as well as looking for work. Talk about starting over... I just got a job teaching preschool, and will start a week from Monday. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!
ADRIENNE ~ "IF ALL THE ADEYS LIVED ACROSS THE SEA, WHAT A GOOD SWIMMER BRUCE WOULD BE!!" THIS IS THE GIST (REMEMBER THAT WORD) OF MY ENTIRE PS 164 6TH GRADE GRAD BOOK! MY SON IS 13, JUST RECENTLY BAR MITZVAHED. I DON'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO CONTINUE WRITING, BUT I DID WANT TO GET BACK TO YOU SOONER THAN LATER. IT WAS TRULY GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU. I'VE BEEN SAVORING THE MOMENT THAT I WOULD WRTE BACK TO YOU. I AM IN TOUCH WITH LORI JANE COLEMAN (KRANZE) FOR THE PAST 3 OR 4 YEARS, AND HAD VISITED HER ABOUT 1-2 YEARS AGO WITH MY SON AND WIFE. I'VE ALSO RECENTLY SEEN ARTHUR MUCHNICK, BOBBY GLASS, AND DAN HEIMOWITZ, ANYWAY, I WILL CONTINUE THIS AT A LATER TIME.
ALL MY BEST, BRUCE BERKOWITZ
Hi Adrienne, Well, CA started out as an adventure but once I got into the "laid back" lifestyle and the weather, I was hooked! Of course, my wife's family is from CA and they live nearby and once we had kids, there was no turning back. My kids are 23, 21, 17. The time goes by fast, so enjoy Spencer (11) because before you know it, he'll be going off to college!
We had a lot of fun growing up in the old neighborhood! I remember those times fondly. Do you remember that summer at Camp Monroe?
Do you enjoy living in Hartford? What else is going on with your life? To be continued! Jerry
Hi Peter, Actually, I do know Greenfield. Not really well but I used to drive over the Mohawk Trail from time to time when I would visit my grandparents in Bennington, VT. I keep telling my family I want to drive that route again. It is one of the prettiest drives I know. As for CT, I like it very much. It's been a good place for us. And while I rolled my eyes when my husband first came home and told me he was considering a job in Hartford--we lived in Manhattan at the time--Hartford has a lot going for it. It has a very good symphony orchestra, good opera, Hartford Stage Company which is truly outstanding, and a lovely art museum. So, while obviously it is not a match for NYC, it is really quite good and we take big advantage of it. And, there is a good folk music scene up here which I enjoy very much. You mentioned Meriden--I don't know Meriden very well although I work at Middlesex Community College in Middletown and we have a center in Meriden on West Main St.
adrienne,
yes, The Mohawk Trail is quite busy right now with, what we call the "Leaf Peepers" (i.e. "new yorkers, etc.").
and, i do like, connecticut, but am not someone to go out and see music/theatre - only when friends are performing (and that's alot of commitments already). i live in an artist community. Turners Falls (my town) has a good percentage of artists. It is a faded mill town along the Connecticut River and Mohawk Trail. It also has alot of underclass - some say that makes it interesting, but when the 10-year olds are throwing crab apples at my house, i'm not sure...
have an apartment in nyc as well, and spend about 1/3 of the time there. and, you are right about The Mohawk Trail - beautiful road.
i see by diane's email to you your mother was a teacher. also, where did you live? i lived around the corner from diane on 137th street (near the "short cut").
also, i was almost thrown off this site by the founder, that is that "message from the site creator" was directed to me - the interesting story related upon request.
finally, make sure to look at our 1957 family holiday card picture (the black & white) that i posted on my page here - Flushing Meadow Park just in from Park Drive East.
yo adrienne! (didn't Rocky say that in the orig movie? - sorry if you've heard this too many times before.
i live in Turners Falls, a suburb of Greenfield (which you probably haven't heard of either. I'm within striking distance of the two gentrified towns of Brattleboro, VT and Northampton, Mass. i commute to nyc often (here right now). i am in one of the class pictures posted if you want to try and I.D. me - believe it is class 6-2 (Mr. Gulkin). i have to find it to place myself. how do you like connecituct? a little too crowded for me, quieter up here. i usually stay over in Meriden when i drive to the city.
