Hi Stewart,You're not going to believe this because I don't. Here I was writing you again and again I lost everything.I didn't delete it this time it just went back to the home page. This is vey frustrating. Here we go again............ I will write you on e-mail next time and mine is gerber65@bellsouth.net.
Sorry I didn't write sooner.I've had a very busy and fun few days. I like going to the movies and working only 2 days I have a lot of time. Go see Taken with Liam Neesen Vey good.I also like comedies, action, suspense, chick flicks, cowboy, period pieces, but no scary ones-I'm a wuss.
I will answer your other question next time when I e-mail you.
Cindy told me they may be cancelling the reunion because people(including me) have not payed.I already have non refundable plane tickets because we got a really cheap rate of $142 round trip so we booked early.Cindy said if they do then she may be able to get a bunch of people from school for a dinner or something and do it on our own. There are apparently a bunch of people who still live in the general area including New Jersey that she speaks to. So at least hopefully something will take place.I haven't paid because Cindy told me to wait until she spoke to whoever is in charge of this. Now she's hearing this. They're saying $100 is too much for this which it is. So I'll wait and see what happens.
Take care,Randi
Hi Stewart,I promise Sharon has dark brown hair not black. She works at a podiatrist's office in Fresh Meadows. Before I start I wanted you to know my lack of knowledge on the computer because i just wrote you and was proof reading and thought i was scrolling up to see it all and accidentally deleted it and the comment before me.Plus my typing is not wonderful and I'll do it again. My stupidity. If you can get hold of Hillcrest's 1973 year book I may be in it for the volleyball team.It really is nice to have a face to the writer. As I write you I see you as that 5 yr old boy.(better than what you remember of me right now)Ivy also brought Campbell junior high"s 1970 year book. It's a year before we graduated but there was a boy in that book that Ivy wanted the picture of.In that, is a picture of me in chorus that I have never seen before. You want to talk about a flashback.I even remember where I sat, and there I was. What a trip.As far as the 4 of us----I thought we looked damn good for 52.Some of us heavier, some thinner, but we basically look the same as does Sharon just older.I'm sorry I didn't think to ask Cindy if I could hold on to the pictures because I'm sure my friends and sister would have like to have seen me and my friends 40 years ago.Cindy is coming back to Florida in april so I could have given them back to her then. This whole thing of the reunion, seeing the girls and writing you is very strange to me. I was the first to leave and that part of my life was so in the past and so distant. The fact that these people including you write me and even remember me is unreal. You living in Missouri may feel the same because we're not a part of that anymore.I'm really having a hard time trying to tell you in words what I mean.
I really would love to see you in NY but I totally understand why you can't.I promise I'm not busting your chops this time.Just wishful thinking. As you said,we're friends now and it would have been nice.
Anyway gotta go.I'm not proofing this so sorry about the mistakes.Hopefully I won't delete this AGAIN. Randi
As a matter of fact, I found Jeffrey Thaw on classmates and we were in touch for a while (in the past 3 years) and that is it. It's tough and had we had the internet when we were young, it might have been a different story.
Stewart, the back row is Robert Zelin, not Zelinger-got carried away with these names that they all started to sound alike. A lot of these kids were from Melborne Ave and around 4th grade or so I believe they had the option to go to a closer school, so some did leave.
Arlette Giliberto(can't remember last name), Gwen Stollow_, Marilyn Zelinger, Renee Adler, _Hilary Schlesinger_, _Mindy Kornblatt_, Cathy Komar, _Andrea Brandon_____
Stuart Bittman, Debbie Kurland not Dawn Bennett,Robert Zelinger, Robin Klauber(can't remember last name), David Davis, _Judy Tasse, Andy Sommers, Mrs. Riccio
I was friends for a while with Richard Fiedler, Richard Leroy and Andy Sommers. Randi Finkelstein and Cathy Komar kept turning up in many of my classes at 164 and through high school. But I don't have contact with anyone from that class now.
Were you in any of my classes after second grade? My teachers were
3rd grade -Mrs. Goldman
4th grade - Mrs. Goldblatt
5th grade - MIss Riley
6th grade - Mr. Edelson
No, just this one class. 3rd was Mrs. Sondike, 4th Mrs. Berman, 5th Mrs. May, and 6th Mrs. Bromberg
Now how is that for memory for the missing classmates!
Stewart, believe it or not I think I can name all but 1! What I need to do is look at the picture, write down the names and then type them in an email! As soon as I have a chance I will do that! Andrea Brandon and I were best friends throughout high school and most of college, but we kind of went on separate paths. We have communicated via this site though, which was good! I just spoke to Cindy Adams yesterday and we are going to try and get whoever is out there and meet for dinner in NY this spring. Gotta run. Have a great weekend. Oh and since I can't see the picture as I write, I think I was in back of you, my hair was in a pony tail.
We were in 2nd grade class together. Take a look at the 3 school photos that I posted and you will see yourself sitting next to Jayne Alexander and Randy (can't remember her last name).
I moved to NJ back in '83 and have been here since. I live in Hunterdon County which is an absolutely beautiful area. I love it here. Have you been in touch with anyone from 164?
Hi Stewart,Iwas just busting your chops aabout coming, but it would have been nice.My older son is also going to college next year. I get the part about saving. We're in the same boat.
My sister in law was staying with me this past weekend from Georgia.Company is nice, but it's even nicer when they leave.
We're actually going to be cold for a few days.Lows in the 40's highs around 60.That's cold for us.I like the cooler weather. After these cold spells end that's it till next year.
Cindy is coming this weekend. I'm really excited to see her.Who would have thought I'd be seeing and talking to people from elementary school.
Take care Randi
Hi it's your cousin Lauren. Just wanted to say hi. Hope you are all well. Long time no hear. Please keep in touch. I would like to know how you and your family are. My email address is missinglinkcharm@aol.com. My phone number is 407 666-3844. I am living in Florida.
Hi Stewart,Sharon had long brown hair not black.Depending which color she chooses is what color her hair is now. She'll kill me for that but 1500 miles away helps. You're good.I had short straight brown hair and was very skinny (not so much now)thank you and extremely athletic. I always thought I was better than all the boys.(which I was)I was always into sports but one too many injuries ended that.I do enjoy throwing a ball for the dogs but even that can bring back my tennis elbow which took 2 long years to get over.I had orthoscopic knee surgery this past June which was from a fall but I honestly believe taking dives for balls and sliding into bases helped start my slow decline.Sucks getting old.
As far as who I remember, I remember names like they were yesterday but the faces just aren't there.I was honestly hoping with Cindy's pictures and memory that it would jar my memory.Sharon and I were inseperable as kids and adults despite the miles.I'm very proud of the fact that I can say I have a friend that I've known for 46 years.
You're also right about New Yorkers not going anywhere.I guess I was and am the adventurous type because I like to go to places I've never been.New Yorkers never move either.Where they are is where they stay unless you're a kid starting out then fly the coop.
Back to busting your chops about the reunion because now they have a deadline of Jan 31 to send your money in.Your wife can hang out with my husband and Sharon's while we're at the reunion reminissing.Aw come on.
I'm only coming in for a long weekend and that long because I want to see my aunt and cousins. I'm going from Thursday to Sunday. My birthday is the Monday after.HINT HINT.That's the last time I'll bring it up (PROMISE)
Take care,Randi
Hi Stewart,OK today and tomorrow is going to be in the lower 80's,then we're going back to the 50's and lower 70's. I'm tired of the heat.I too with my husband and friend go walking for exercise.I used to be a massive softball player and volleyball player. One too many injuries stopped me.But it will always be a big part of my life.
I've been trying to get Sharon on this website but she doesn't take the time. One day she will.I keep telling her you ask about her. She still is in the neighborhood with her family. She's on Jewel Ave in an apt one of the "boys" we used to hang with used to live.If you look thru her kitchen window you can see my old apt.Very eerie at times.
Yes Ivy was the one with blonde ponytails.Rene has dirty blonde hair, little heavy when we were kids.(not anymore). Her parents were very strict and couldn't do some of the things we did.
I went out west one time to Colorado,Wyoming Utah,Arizona, and ended up in Vegas. In Wyoming with the Teton Mountains and the eagles soaring had to be one of the most beautiful sights I've seen.On that trip I saw a lot of deer, antelope, buffalo, and moose.I miss the mountains a lot.I do envy what you see on a regular basis. Here we get ducks, squirrels, and birds.(BORING)
I too invision Cindy with the distinctive freckles.I smiled when you wrote that because this whole thing with the reunion is bringing me(ALL of us) back to a place that was such a distant memory, but yet our past.I'm amazed at how much people remember what I remember.I don't know how to fully describe what I feel of all this. You think that that part of you is a distant past of your memory especially people like us who aren't there anymore. It all seems to be rushing back quickly and it's fun.
Talked your ear off again.......
take Care,Randi
Hi Stewart,
Do you envy my weather yet?Sharon said, they're expecting 1-7 inches. Here it's supposed to be low in the 50's highs in the mid 70's. My favorite kind of weather.
Cindy Adams is coming to Fla in 2 weeks. Me, Ivy Orenstein ,and Rene Willner are going to see her. Cindy says she has a lot of pictures from "THE DAYS" of our youth. I told her if she forgets them don't bother coming off the plane. I on the other hand have no pictures from then,so I'm dieing to see what she has.I'll let you know how our mini reunion goes.
Speak to you soon
Randi
hi Stewart,
So sorry to hear your wife is allergic to dogs. You do know that there are hypo-allergenic dogs out there. My girlfriend is allergic also and has now a 1 year old cockerpoo.
I only like the bagel place because I like the waitresses and talking to the customers. I'm amazed at how many people eat at the same place day in and day out.
Oh,before I forget------Happy Holidays.I'm going to christmas party #2 tonight and #3 tomorrow.
I did a good deed today. There's this older guy (customer) who I befriended. He recently lost his wife of 62 years.(I couldn't even imagine). He always comes to the bagel place to see me and eat of course. So for Christmas I got him a little something and he was really touched.I can honestly say it felt really good to do the giving.
Anyway, that's about it.Today at work was extremely busy and I'm beat.Still hoping you'll come to the reunion.
Randi
Hi Stewart,
Mr.Oilman rings a bell but I'm not sure.People who don't live in Fla. are always envious of the weather here during your winter months. Here I personally get tired of the heat.Every winter we never know what kind of winter we'll get. There's never a guarantee we'll get cold or if we do how long.We could get highs in the 60's during the day and bounce back up the 80"s the next day. Thank God this year we're having a much sooner and longer cooler weather.Just hope it lasts for a while cause when it stops that's it till next year.Yes, it gets as hot as they say but everything here is central air,so it's not as bad like in NY with room AC's and pray it reaches other rooms.I remember going to Sharon's where if she had the livingroom ac on you couldn't use a blow drier or the computer cause it would blow a fuse.I don/t miss that.
I did go to college here to a local community school.School unfortunately was never my piece of cake.I would have been a nursery school drop out if I had the option.I used to be in the automotive business till I got laid off my job of 10 yrs.Business was just that bad. That was 3 yrs ago. At the time I had been in the business for 25 yrs and badly burnt out.My mother in law had recently passed away and left us a few bucks so my husband said, why don't I do something with dogs which is always my first love.I landed a job with a dog groomer and my dream job turned out to be my worse nightmare. It was hard to work for and with women when men dominated the car business. They always treated me great.Women............My boss was a total bitch, so after almost 2 yrs I quit. I started looking for another job back in the auto business but unfortunately there was nothing. Then I found out I needed orthoscopic
knee surgery.During my recovery still on crutches I was at the local bagel place where I frequent very often when the owner comes up to me,(who I know for years)and offers me a job to be the cashier. At this point you cant't fina job anywhere and as embarassing as it is to me I'm grateful to have this because it's more than most can say.So for now what the hell.It keeps my sanity to work and the extra money is always a plus especially since my older son goes to college next year.Thank god I can't wait.My other son is 15 and we're counting the days till he goes. I never thought I could deal with the empty nest thing, but now I'm at the point SEE YA.
That's it
Randi
Hi Stewart--thanks for responding, great to hear from you and that your life is good, Yes, NYC can be overwhelming, especially once you resided here and left for a long time...then returned. I was at the Doctor today for routine blood work---he is in the old Dr, Shankman's Office, if you remember Dr. Shankman...he passed away not too long ago...he was old, but still went to visit people at Booth Memorial Hospital....The neighborhood is so different...You have to see it to believe it!!! Speak Again, Regards, CINDY
Hey Stewart,
My apologies for not writing sooner.I've had some kind of stomach virus which I can't seem to shake.Just when I feel ok, Bam all over again.Feeling semi human now but I thought so twice before.
My son calls me at work last week because he threw his back out and had to get him and deal with that.He says,he's walking like a pregnant woman because he can't straighten himself to even stand. My sister has a message therapy place and I couldn't get him in for 2 days because they were so busy. He too is semi normal now.
I don't seem to have any class pictures from PS 164.When my dad was packing up our house to move to Fla I was in the hospital and apparently he didn't pack a lot of things I may have wanted.
Anyway I have to go take my son for another massage now,but I wanted to write you and apologize.I'm finally not taking up residence in the bathroom or my bed.
Take care,
Randi
Hi there Stewart....WOWOW---tell me that this whole thing is really a blast!!! I remember your mom so very well....Mimi, I know that she was very very sick, and it was a long while back. MISSOURI????? How does a New Yorker end up in Missouri, that is unless, HE finds a great woman to marry and settle down with, as I guess you did...Good for you. We were in lots of classes together way way way back.....Fill me in on stuff, will you be in for the reunion???? I am going, and I hope that many people show up, it will really be something BIG!!!! speak soon---regards, CINDY
