I remember 2 songs. The snowman song- Le bon homme de neige. "Il gro, il gra, c'est le bon homme de neige" and "Allouette". (Can't remember now if there should be an "s" at the end of "gro" and "gra" now!) Mrs. Berman taught us well. French was easy As for me at Campbell JHS, Bowne, and college.

YES!!! Forgot about that one, too! Gros et gras! Good memory! And, of course, Allouette. How could I forget that one? We must have about 10 songs in total, between us all. Pretty darn good!

I had to check with my friend who is a few years ago than me (and has a much better memory) just to make sure that was Mrs. Berman. I'd never seen her smiling before! Maybe her health was poor when we had her and that's why she seemed so stern.

I remember Mon Merle Aperdu Une Plume, and I remember learning the the Pledge of Allegiance in French and the French national anthem (both of which I remember to this day).

I think the "Qui me passera" song was called "Fais Dodo" and was a lullaby. I definitely remember the blackbird song

We also had some sort of candle lighting ceremony.

Michele Marder! That's a name from the past! Wow! I can see you clearly in my mind. Do you remember me? I seem to also have you stuck together, in my memory, with some other young girls named Sylvana and Jimena....or is it Sylvana Jimenez (all one person)? Can you straighten me out on this? Were they indeed friends of yours? I think that "Fais Dodo" is a different song from "Qui me passera" --and, yes, "Fais Dodo" is a lullaby. I feel strongly about this only because Rafi (the once-famous children's singer, until he quit) sings it on his albums and videos, and I recall him singing it when my oldest daughter used to listen to him, many years ago. Claire Forchheimer mentioned something about a "pesche" (sp?) song. I feel like I have it on the tip of my tongue, but can't get it out. Do you (or anyone out there!) know at least the beginning of that song so maybe I can get a good grip on the rest of it?

Janet - my memory of you is from our Peter Pan production. If I remember correctly, you were Peter - I was Mrs. Darling and that was when I was in 6th grade (I think) and you were in 5th - maybe?

As for the French songs - can't help you - I just know we had to do French instead of Art because we were in the top class - Funny- most of the french I remember is from those elementary years eventhough I took French in JHS.

Sorry to hear Rafi quit singing kid songs. Guess he made enough money...
