What a great question!

My favourite teacher was Beverly Alexander. Even though it was a long time ago, I remember kindergarten quite well. I was an only child so going to school everyday and spending the afternoon with a group of children was a big deal for me. Mrs. Alexander was a kind lady and she made kindergarten a lot of fun. I have many fond memories of learning songs, doing crafts and playing with my classmates.

All of my 164 teachers were good in their own way, but Mrs. Alexander has remained my favourite all these years later. (38 years later!)

I have to agree, my fondest memories were of kindergarten, and Mrs. Alexander (oh my god-40 years ago!) Mrs. Alexander was gentle and kind, I can remember building, as a class, an igloo out of cardboard blocks, drinking the milk from a coconut that someone brought in, playing in the doll corner, and having the biggest crush on Tony Abroselli!

Mrs. Alexancer was my favorite, too! I remember finger-painting, and going over the weather and the calendar (1969 sticks in my head), and my favorite: playing house in the little kitchen with the pots and pans and dolls. They just removed that little wooden kitchen, a year ago, because they Board of Ed. feels that kindergarteners, today, benefit more from computer-time than from imaginary play. Isn't that awful? The kitchen set, and pots and pans, are being stored in the basement of the school. I hope that, some day,soon, they realize that they've made a big mistake! Mrs. Alexander is still alive, by the way. I just wrote her a letter :-)

My favorite was Mrs Moskowitz, she was so calm and kind to all the kids. I also liked Mr. Gordon, he was kind of a crazy guy always wore sneakers jeans and a dress shirt, and he never combed his hair LOL He was very cool.

I loved Mrs. Alexander as well, I guess being the first person to look after me that wasn't related to me made her special. That's a big responsibility for a Kindergarten teacher....They pave the way for how you will feel about school. Get a bad teacher, School doesn't look so good, but get a good teacher and you almost look forward to it....Almost!! I also remember Mrs. Rispoli, my 1st grade teacher. I don't recall exactly why but I have a special place in my heart for her. BUT...my all time favorite was Ms. Silberman, I thought she was so cool and pretty. I had her for 3rd grade & 5th grade and I loved every minute. I actually went back to PS 164 on an internship through Hillcrest and I got to be a student teacher for her. What a blast!!!

I have 2 favorites. Mrs. Simon of course who took the class to her house-I will never forget the gold records on the wall going up the stairs. Then she took me alone and Paul Simon himself read lines with me for our production of FIddler. This was 3rd grade so I was too young to be too awed by him, but the gold records told me he must be somebody big! lol

My other favorite was Mrs. Sachs. She read books to us and was the sweetest woman. She made Charlotte's Web come to life!

It wasn't a big deal to me at the time. I only realized it was a big deal in retrospect! I do tell the story to people -I don't think they believe me or believe that Mrs. Simon was my teacher!

Without a doubt, my favorite teacher was Mrs. Simon. She was my first and third grade teacher and I remember her classes the most. I also liked Mrs. Silverman (I think that was her name) She was my second grade teacher and it was the only year that both my brother Mark and I were in the same class. Ok, Ok I liked Mrs Zobler too. She was my kindergarten teacher and we would see her at our Synagogue on holidays. The Free Synagogue of Flushing.

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Simon. She was always very good to me and believed in me. She was my teacher in first grade and for the first half of third grade (about a third of the class, including me, was switched to Ms. Gaal's class halfway through third grade because the classes were so big--if I recall correctly). I think I remember Mrs. Simon playing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" in class on her record player. I also remember the class singing "Feeling Groovy--59th Street Bridge Song" in music class, although I don't remember the music teacher's name--Farkas or Berman. I also liked Mrs. Alexander very much in kindergarten, although I don't remember much from that time. Two other teachers who I liked a lot were Mrs. Finkelstein (fourth grade) and Mr. Connors (sixth grade).

Yep...It was Mrs Simon for me too. 3rd grade. The field trip to her house was awesome. Like Claire said, gold records on the wall going up the staircase. The best thing about her class was her playing Simon and Garfunkel albums on a record player at the front of the class for the last 15 minutes or so of every day. I'm so happy I can still remember that...
