Also, Mike Markowitz, from "Little Mike and the Tornadoes" a famus blues band graduated from 164. He was my neighbor and I remember he played Officer Krumpke in west side story in maybe 1966:

Love the Paul Simon stories. One of my all time favorites is my memory of singing with Paul Simon. He came to sing for the younger grades and I was the only kid in the first grade who knew all the words to Puff the Magic Dragon. Must have been 1963. Also took guitar lessons from Eddie Simon in the fourth grade.

This won't mean much to Americans, but in Spain where I've been living since 1970, my name is a household word among the flamenco community. I received Spain's national award for flamenco journalism, and wrote a book on the subject which was voted best flamenco-related book of 2007.

Well, it works for me...:-)
