Yes!!! Mrs. Bromberg was the Glee Club Teacher and Mrs. Farkas played the piano, (Mrs. Farkas was also my piano teacher, she was great)---My Kindergarten class loves the way I play all their favorite songs (which are still the same songs I LEARNED from Mrs. Goldberg & Mrs. Finkelstein---150yrs ago). The song remains the same (that is a Led Zepplin Video)----Music lives......I remember in Mr. Edelsons class I played Golda in Fiddler on the Roof. Never made it to the big-time----the PS 164 Glee Club....

In the late 50's early 60's I remember Mrs. Bromberg was the leader and I think Mrs. Simon played the piano. The King and I was done in '59, South Pacific in '60 and Oklahoma in '61. When I taught elementary school years ago I always thought how wonderful it was to have "clubs" on Friday afternoon. I still have the apron that I made in Mrs. Whiting's sewing class (I save a lot of things).

I also remember the Glee Club with fond memories. I was in Oklahoma and a year later we put on the Mikado. It was a great memory of my school days.

Mrs. Farkas ran the glee club, and we did pirates of penzance. I still remember the two chords she played on the piano to get us ready to be quiet and sing.

Oh G-d yes!! I was too young to be in The King and I but I do remember it. I was in forth grade and they needed a few "little Kids" to play the children in "South Pacific" I tried out and I was so nervous but I got chosen. I had a one line solo in "Di tem wa (?) " What a memory. I remember Mrs. Bromberg and of course, Mrs. Simon - how talented she was. I remember how easily she could change the octove for someone singing. I heard she died last year at 97!! I remember meeting Paul as well. Great memories.

Wow, I haven't thought about the Glee Club in years. I was the Captain in "HMS Pinafore" in 1964. Mrs. Bromberg directed and Mrs. Farkas played the piano. My parents actually rented a costume so it must have been a big deal.

BTW, does anyone remember playing ping pong in the school basement for some sort of club time?

On Friday afternoons, we had "clubs" at the end of the day. I recall the sewing club, the knitting club, I think there was a stamp and science club. What I remember in the basement was the "Speech" room. Perhaps the Speech teacher's name was Mrs. Stalzer or Stelzer?
Deb...and I also remember the nurse's office. We got polio vaccines in there. Some of us took the vaccine on sugar cubes.

I remember clubs on Fridays. Also getting the polio vaccines.

I was in HMS Pinafore that year as well --- one of his "sisters and his cousins and his aunts." I remember Mrs. Farkas fondly.

I graduated in 59, and during my time Mrs. Bromberg was the lead teacher, with Mrs. Simon, or sometimes Mrs. Farkas, playing the piano. We performed at the end of the school year for the Parents association meeting, as well as for students during the day. In 57, we did a medley of songs that were international. In 58, it was My Fair Lady, and in 59. The King and I. Seems like that one was done more than once. Does anyone remember performing "The House I Live In" and "Ballad for Americans"? I think it may have been Glee Club performances, but I am not sure, because I was in Mrs. Bromberg's class in 5th and 6th grades, and it might just have been our class, or maybe just the sixth grade assembly, etc.

I didnt make the glee club and I think Im still not over it lol I think it was Farkus(I still have my music book with her mimeograped purple hand written song sheets and notes about parts of the ochestra as a matter of fact)

I remember Mrs. Bromberg running the Glee Club. They did South Pacific and I really wanted the lead.
I remember Bette Young got it.
However, I can still sing every song, without missing a lyric.
