the pedestrian bridge was not built until they constructed The Van Wyck Expressway for The World&#039;s Fair. construction started circa 1962 and was completed before the fair started in &#039;64. before that there was no real road even for cars (except the few that were going there for recreation), so no cross walk was needed.&lt;br /&gt;
